Happy New Year from our house to your house.

John, my husband, and I were in Florida recently and decided to visit Florida Southern College, Lakeland http://www.flsouthern.edu/. Scroll down the page and then click on Frank Lloyd Wright. While on our own self guided tour of the Frank Lloyd Wright buildings, I couldn't help but notice the fluorescent lighting which is posted below.

Saturday night my husband, another couple and I went out searching in the neighborhood for spectacular Christmas lights. However, nothing we saw could beat what has been published here: http://peachygreen.com/going-green/peachy/15-most-beautiful-christmas-trees-in-the-world.

Can you believe that there are only two more shopping days until Christmas? We have the tree decorated, the wreath hung on the front door and some cookies baked. Tomorrow I am hoping to make some fudge. Happy Holidays from our house to yours.

Thematic Photograph - 80 - Abstract

I have been looking at the world as abstract scenes for as long as I can remember. I like to take some ordinary idea and then give it a twist. For this particular image, I turned a garbage can upside down to use for the background. Notice how the edges of the rose are black and curled. Each red petal looks like a vein in a person's hand. And so tomorrow what abstract scene will I see? Only time will tell.

Window #2, St. Augustine, Florida.

Window #3, St. Augustine, Florida.
My husband and I visited Florida for about eight days in December 2009. St. Augustine is my favorite shooting spot in Florida. The oldest building in St. Augustine provided this window image. Notice the torn curtains, the reflections, and the view from outside looking inside. Happy Holidays!

Ok here we are up in the friendly skies.

In St. Augustine I found this iron rail with sky as background. It is like looking

Lake Michigan waves rolling in and out from shoreline. Notice more patterns in the sand.
On a very cloudy day, I went to Lake Michigan for a photographic shoot. I couldn't believe my eyes when I looked down and saw the aftermath of rainwater on sand. This is amazing!

Todays Flowers #68

These purple mums were in three bushel baskets in front of our house for Autumn. Luckily, I took this picture before the cold weather came. This coming week, all three plants need to be tossed in the garage. I am sad to see such lovely flowers go. Instead, I should look forward to the next season which is usually a cold, snowy winter. Sometimes, winter can look like fairy land.

"Ginger and cinnamon fill the air
A patchwork of leaves lay everywhere
Cold, clean mornings and an indigo dawn
Crystal frost on the emerald lawn
Golden apple cider and delicious pumpkin pie
These are the things I love at Autumn time."

Thematic Photographic #76 - Orange

Let me see. Do I have any orange images in stock? The answer is no. When I was out and about, I discovered this on a fence at Central Street Elementary School, Wilmette, Illinois.

11/18/2009 Outdoor Wednesday #45

"Compare the serene and simple splendor of a rose in bloom with the tensions and restlessness of your life. The rose has a gift that you lack; it is perfectly content to be itself. It has not been programmed from birth, as you have been, to be dissatisfied with itself, so it has not the slightest urge to be anything other than it is. That is why it possesses the artless grace and absence of inner conflict that among humans is only found in little children and mystics."
.....Anthony DeMello, THE WAY TO LOVE

Photograph of a single rose taken on our backyard cement patio.

I was trying to obtain an unusual scratched background so I placed a single rose on a garbage can turned upside down.

A single rose growing in our garden. I cropped photograph to show only petals.

This week I am ready to take on the weekly challenge of recommending a site that I haven't visited before. Drum roll please. Go to http://maiasfotos.blogspot.com/ and behold the Pink Dahlias. Maiat has a wonderful knack at doing macro photography of flowers.

Oh my goodness. I can't believe that I ate the whole thing. I can't remember if I ate it for breakfast then lunch and finally dinner. Must have a bit of youngtimers. Oh my...chocolate is the best balanced diet yet. Does this mean there are no calories in this here candy bar? YEA!
FYI: Just in case you are interested in tasting this delicious chocolate bar here is the website to go to: www.bloomsberry.com.
